[TM]CC#01 Ice Breaker - Who Am I

Who Am I

Good evening Toast master of the day and fellow and future toast masters. I am Thanigeaswara. I was born on 1 st of February 1980 at Pondicherry. which is also known for the home of paa-venthar Bharathidasan and the second home for Aurobindo, Mirra Alfassa  a.k.a  “The Mother”, Bharathiyar and many famous personalities.

My father is a retired teacher and my mother is a home maker. I have one younger sister she is doing her post graduation at Chennai. I had one younger brother who passed away last year due to sudden illness.

My home town is a former French colony. As we know the French people are very famous for their architecture skills. The architecture of the roads inside our city was designed by the French people. There is a ring road around the city and inside the ring road all the roads will be perpendicular to one another. So you can enter any road and you can reach any road.

During my school days like others I was also crazy about cricket, whenever there was a match between India and Pakistan, i declared holiday to my school, telling various reasons like special camp, special function at home, sometimes I used to kill my grandmother many times. But like a proverb “Thief will be caught one day”, I also get caught.

I did my B.sc mathematics at St.joseph's college of arts and science, cuddalore and post graduation M.C.A at SSN college of engg, chennai. In my PG when I got the first semester results, my marks were totally in disarray because I failed in many subjects. After that I spent 3 days continuously in a room with full depression. Because back home my parents borrowed money from my relatives for my studies. Being the elder son to my parents I felt terribly bad and had doubt whether I am capable of studying the course at all.

But from the second semester I got a new roommate Mahidhar Reddy who gave me lots of confidence by saying me   “Look you are going to clear all the papers with flying colors by second semester itself”, I believed that god has sent him to help me. I have learnt from him what hard work is all about. I owe him a lot in my life. After the first semester results I started to grow beard. I had the beard till i cleared all the papers. During those days I was look like a munivar in penance hoping to see the god. My hostel life gave me the courage to face challenges in my life.

After finishing the PG I also entered in the rat race to get a job in an IT firm. Finally I got a job in SRM Technologies as a software engg. Then soon I got an opportunity to work at abroad. I worked in Japan for 2 years. What fascinates me about Japan was their importance to time and their culture. Before going to Japan, I read in the books that in Japan, “Only buses will wait at the bus stop, not the time”. When I was there I experienced it and also learned Japanese language a bit. People always stand in a Q while entering into lift or the bus or train. You could see double Decker road bridges, double Decker underground railway tracks and lots of amazing things.

My best experience at Japan came when we toured to interior parts of Japan. I got delighted while travelling in the bullet train. Like fellow toastmaster balaji sadaiappan’s 1234 of life ambition. I do have 1234 ambition in my life. This year I will acquire 1 in my life that is wife.

I learnt that in our life, time is very important and according to the usage of time, the developments in our life will be. I decided that I should spend my time wisely, so I joined Chennai toast masters club to use my time wisely.
I also believe that one should invest the time to improve himself/herself and this in turn will lead them to greater heights in their life.

From my experience, I strongly believe that “Smooth seas never made skilled sailors”
